Yala Jewellery Zero Waste Brass Pendant - pre order only
During the process of casting Yala Jewellery's brass pieces, small randomly-shaped pieces of the metal become separated from the finished product. The team in our brass workshop rescues these pieces and transforms them into stunning pendants which they call 'organics'. These one-off pieces are then delicately hung from a 14k gold-filled chain, creating the perfect everyday necklace.
These brass 'organics' form in two different shapes - choose from bean or arrow shape when you check-out.
These beauties are free of lead, nickel and cadmium, and ethically and sustainably made in Nairobi, Kenya.
40cm (16 inch) chain length
Approximate size of brass 'organic' is 3cm (1.2 inch) high and 1cm (0.4 inch) wide

Yala Jewellery is an African jewellery brand designed for the modern woman. The brand creates ethical jewellery that is created to last, with collaborators who are paid fairly and materials that are eco-friendly. Yala's small batch collections are made exclusively for the brand, and create as little environmental impact as possible. Founder Audrey Migot-Adholla started Yala Jewellery to challenge common misconceptions about Kenya and its people. She says, "I also wanted to prove that sustainability and profitability are not mutually exclusive. The challenges I face are those commonly encountered by people of colour trying to make their way in an industry where those with the power do not see or do not understand our potential."
I love this pendant. It immediately caught my eye while browsing on Janet’s List during the WOW festival. I bought it so I can wear it as a reminder of the great women in the world when I need inspired. I like that it’s beauty made from ‘waste’ and also unique. The packaging with information about who made it is lovely and the personal note from Janet made me smile. I’ve put mine on a thin ribbon as that suits me better. The chain is too short for me. I’ll be browsing again!
